Botox: Dos and Don’ts

Considering Botox? Consider this

According to Dr. Peter Geldner, renowned Chicago Plastic Surgeon, when it comes to Botox, who treats you, not how much it costs, is what matters. Experience and training are more important than cost. There is truth to the old adage, “you get what you pay for.”

For the best results, patients have to choose the right provider. Go with experience, not price. If price is your focus, you may not get an adequately trained injector. Some injectors have only taken a weekend course before they start injecting patients. Before deciding where to go and whom to have inject you, do your due diligence. Ask about the injectors:

– How many years have they been injecting?

– How many patients do they inject on a weekly basis?

– What is their training?

– What credentials do they hold?

– What experience do they have?

Injector Experience Matters

The last thing you want is a bad result. There are a number of things that can go wrong with a bad Botox treatment. Here are just a few: asymmetric facial movement; eyebrows raised on naturally high; eyebrows are naturally low, uneven smile; a frozen mock, some lines that look smooth and some that look exaggerated.

Dr. Geldner’s best advice is to do your homework. Don’t just look at prices, look at the injector. Make sure they’re a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Facial Plastic Surgeon, a Dermatologist, or one who has been trained by them. Make sure you and your injector are on the same page and that you’ve explained what it is you’re looking for. The injector should do a full analysis of your face to determine the best way to proceed to give you the results you are looking for.

The moral of the story is to do your homework, do your research, then get your Botox. You’ll be happier with the results.
