When it comes to “big girl skincare,” it can be hard for young professionals to invest in every step – as a young professionals myself, I totally understand that it can be hard to choose a great serum over a new bag. There are certain things you want to invest in and others you can skip the big bucks and wait on.
Serums are the first thing that should be applied after washing your face, they have the smallest molecules and will penetrate the deepest out of all your skincare, totally worth the investment. Each night you want to be using an exfoliating serum containing glycolic acid, retinol, lactic or salicylic acid (better for acne prone skin). Using a night time serum with one or more of these ingredients helps your cell turnover by removing dead skin cells and helps to decrease the appearance of any marks, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles that appear on your face.
A night-time serum and an antioxidant serum for the day time are an imperative part of the skincare home routine process if you want to stay youthful. An antioxidant serum should include ingredients like vitamin C, ferulic acid, phloretin, coffee- berry, green tea and vitamin E. Lots of these ingredients work better in tandem so make sure to read the labels and look for at least two of these. Antioxidant serums help protect against environmental damage you are exposed to daily that contribute to premature aging. We all love that discount price offered at the drugstore, but if you want to keep having your 30th birthday over and over again this is what I suggest you invest in now so you don’t pay the big bucks to fix these problems more invasively later on.
